The National Football Players Father’s Association (NFPFA) hosted their 10th Anniversary on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at The Atrium at the Granville Arts Center in Garland, TX during Super Bowl XLV weekend. Hosted by the City of Garland and Mayor Ronald E. Jones, the city welcomed the parents of current and retired NFL Players. On the rooftop of Red the Steakhouse with the Miami ocean as our backdrop and the warm wind beating upon us, we were pleased to host yet another successful Living Legends Awards & Luncheon in Miami during Super Bowl XLIV.

Celebrating a Decade of Fatherhood

In 2000 when myself and a couple other dads including Mr. Ray Smith and Mr. Robert Porcher decided to form this organization, we believed that we could not only make an impact in our own son’s lives but others.

As a mentor, we challenge you to step up and take the lead role especially in a young man's life to help mold, develop and steer him to the fullness and divine purpose he is intended. Although our professional athlete sons are adults with families and lives of their own, as many of my fellow dads can attest, our mentoring roles is a lifetime commitment. Indeed it takes a village to raise a child and it takes strong leaders, men and women to usher in the next generation. How do we continue the cycle of mentoring? We become conscious of our actions, deeds and character because we set the example to those who will follow our path.

This year, we are delighted to honor some extraordinary men whose work has far exceeded past the field. We hope you are encouraged, motivated and inspired to make a difference in your son's lives and that of other young men. ...
