Being a Father is a year round rewarding experience. We encourage and support the active participation of fathers in the lives of their daughter's and sons regardless of age. How do you do this?

- Nurture your son's and daughter's talents and gifts

We challenge every Father to stand up, take charge and lead our children in the way they should go. Father's may not always get the credit for their hard work...

The Proposal - NFL Draft

I compare the NFL Draft much like a marriage proposal. The suitor lays out a beautiful presentation and pops the question in grand fashion. A nervous and anxious player waits patiently for those precious words to be uttered: The (fill in team's name) picks (Player's name) in the 2012 Draft. The player takes the stage, all smiles, tears flowing, family at his side to receive not a ring, but a hat and jersey with the #1. You're my #1 Pick.

I make light of this, but in some ways, it is very true. I know because I have been there with my own son many years ago. I remember being in the green room waiting with my son, Donovan on Draft night. We had no idea what the night nor future would hold, but we believed in the promise of I Do. There have been many memorable highs and sometimes disappointing lows. But we wouldn't trade in that day for the world.

Draft night will change the lives of many players and their families. It's a night they won't soon forget. My hope is that each player and parent goes into this process with an open heart and mind. With reasonable expectations and knowledge that while this is a memorable day, there will be bumps up ahead. The NFPFA is here to help ...
