Diving Into Pre-Season, Leading into THE Season
Greeting Dads,
It’s that time of the year again when we spend our week game planning for the upcoming weekend games. My prayer is that every young man playing in the game of football at every level has a healthy and successful season, more especially our sons and mentees who play in the NFL. I also ask for God to sustain us and grant us grace & mercy as we travel and support our children at both home and away games.
I wanted to thank every dad who attended our Chicago meeting and helped to make it the best meeting we have had in the existence of NFPFA. We hope you had a great time and felt welcomed in our great city. For those of you who did not attend we hope you make plans and free your schedule early to attend our Super Bowl event in February of 2009 in Tampa Florida.
This year is the time for implementing and getting actively involved in our existing and new programs and partnerships as we discussed in our preseason meeting. I am excited about our partnership with Seado Enterprises in developing our Boys to Men Mentoring Program. There is a tremendous need to help, advise and assist our young student athletes nationwide who desire mentoring. Our mentoring efforts can be a grand opportunity to establish an even stronger presence in the area of sports at all levels. Speaking of all levels of football we have recently created a friendship with USA Football, where we will offer our knowledge and experiences to both parents and young players who desire to get a better understanding of how to maximize their potential on and off the football field.
We are also in the ongoing process of developing our Life’s Audible Family Counseling Program for NFL players and their immediate family members and our Father & Son Mentoring Program. As we continue to add on and improve our existing programs and partnerships we ask that you search within to find where you can fit in the best to help us move this association forward.
Here’s an update on the Athletes for Kids Program and partnership between NFPFA and the Virginia Ballet Theatre. Mr. Frank Bove’ Director of the Virginia Ballet Theatre has taken the program to San Francisco this summer and is currently working on our next possibly in New York City. If you have sons in the markets we are in please encourage them to get involved and help make this program for inner city and at risk kids a great success.
During our preseason meeting we invited special guests from the Joint Chief of Staff Office in Washington D.C. to introduce us to their new nonprofit foundation called I AM NOT A HERO that was created to enlist athletes and entertainers to support our Troops, Wounded Warriors and their Families. These men sacrifice so much and sometimes they make the ultimate sacrifice to defend our nation. We have been invited to participate in their program in September, tour the Pentagon and participate in a press conference announcing our partnership with them. This is a great opportunity for all dads and our sons to participate and give back to our troops and their families that have made grave sacrifices for maintaining our freedom and safety. Let’s make a valiant attempt to come out and support the launching of this awesome new partnership.
We want to make every effort to keep each of you informed and excited about being a part of the National Football Players Fathers Association. As you can see we are trying our best to offer opportunities for everyone to get involved. If you are already a member tell us what program and or partnership you want to work in and if you have not joined, stop making excuses and come on board, we can surely use your help.
Sincerely,
