More Than A HERO
The National Football Players Fathers' Association along with retired NFL players Scott Turner and Joey Bronner and Kawana Cox (wife of Tampa Bay Buccaneer's, Torrie Cox) traveled to Washington, DC for a historic and memorable visit with the Foundation: I AM NOT A HERO. We paid tribute at the Pentagon's 9/11 Memorial by laying wreaths and was given a tour of the Pentagon. We also traveled to Ft. Meade for a Youth Tackle football game on Base with children of parents who are or have been deployed. We were greeted and hosted by Commander General McQueen who spoke with the kids and shared the importance of morale for families left behind and how programs such as this uplifts the troops overseas knowing that their families are doing okay at home.
But the most memorable and touching part of our entire visit was our visit to Walter Reed Medical Center. To witness men and women who served and fought for our freedom let us all reflect on the freedoms we have here in Ameria. Because of their courage, sacrifice and selflessness, gives our sons in professional sports the liberty to play a child's game. We learned that the troops enjoyed watching NFL games on American Forces Network television sometimes even staying up at late at 4am Iraq time to watch a game! We saw troops who have lost their arms and legs, but not their spirit and will to live. Indeed, our sons in the NFL are NOT the Heroes, but the brave men and women who give the ultimate sacrifice are the HEROes.
We count it an honor and priviledge to have been invited and asked to be partners in this great organization. Our hats off to the organizers and founders: Scott Turner, Joey Bronner and CJ Jordan. For more info on I AM NOT A HERO FOUNDATION, please call CJ Jordan at: 202.489.7864 |
